The first inexpensive reprint of a classic of American travel writing, first published in 1791 in Philadelphia by James Johnson and written by the son of America's first botanist, John Bartram of Kingsessing near Philadelphia. Embellished with copper plates (of which 13 are reproduced here) it tells the story of exploration in the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida in the search for novelties of natural history.
