Warton: the story of a North Lancashire village

Fine (rear cover sl. soiled). A brief history of the village of Warton, near Carnforth, most famous for its association with the Washington family who begat the U.S. President of that name. Indeed once a year St. Oswald's church flies the Stars & Stripes, whose design was said to have been inspired by the mullets and bars of the Washington coat of arms that can be seen on the inside wall of the tower. Warton Rectory, now in the care of English Heritage, is another building of note (C14). Unpaginated (12 leaves). Price sticker on rear cover.
