1 Anderson, F.J. A treasury of flowers
New York Botanical Garden 1990 0 8212 1758 5 / 9780821217580 1st edition Hard covers, dust jacket Fine Fine
Drawing on the large collections of botanical art and rare illustrated books at the New York Botanical Garden, this book provides a selection of highlights, but oddly the sources of the illustrations aren't cited on the individual pages. The sources are indeed given in the chapter headings, but it is inconvenient to have to consult the prelims to find the source of the image.

Great natural history books and their creators, Desmond, Ray
19 Desmond, Ray Great natural history books and their creators
The British Library / Oak Knoll Press 2003 0 7123 4774 7 / 9780712347747 1st edition Hard covers, dust jacket Fine Fine
Ambitiously conceived and grandly executed natural history books, with their sumptuous large-format illustrations, are now some of the most expensive antiquarian collectors' items. This book attempts to put them in context; though the last chapter (on 'clerics as authors') does sit rather uncomfortably alongide treatments of Temple of Flora, Birds of America and Flora Graeca. Printed on high quality heavyweight paper, this book's 176 pages are crammed with interesting insights. In the words of one of the chapter headings, 'a curious tale'.
